Ingredients

1 pound (450g) beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced

2 cups broccoli florets

2 cups cooked jasmine or basmati rice

3 tablespoons soy sauce

2 tablespoons oyster sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

3 tablespoons vegetable oil (divided)

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced

1 red bell pepper, sliced

1 medium onion, sliced

1 teaspoon sesame oil

Salt and pepper to taste

Sesame seeds and green onions for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the beef marinade: In a bowl, mix the sliced beef with 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, cornstarch, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Let it marinate for about 10-15 minutes while prepping other ingredients.

Heat the pan: In a large skillet or wok, heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the marinated beef in a single layer, cooking for about 2-3 minutes until it starts to brown. Remove the beef and set it aside.

Stir-fry the vegetables: In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the minced garlic and ginger and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Then, toss in the broccoli, red bell pepper, and onion. Stir-fry for 4-5 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.

Combine beef and sauce: Return the beef to the skillet with the vegetables. Pour in the remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil. Stir well to coat everything and let it cook together for an additional 2-3 minutes to ensure everything is heated through and the flavors meld.

Serve: Fluff the cooked rice and serve it on plates or in bowls. Top with the beef and broccoli stir-fry. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions, if desired.
