Ingredients

1 sheet of puff pastry, thawed

4 oz cream cheese, softened

1/2 cup pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling)

1/4 cup powdered sugar

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

1/4 tsp cinnamon

1/8 tsp nutmeg

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

1 tbsp milk (for egg wash)

Optional: additional powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Prepare the Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, pumpkin puree, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Whisk until smooth and well combined. Set aside.

Roll Out the Pastry: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet to smooth it out. Cut the pastry into 6 squares, approximately 4x4 inches.

Fill the Pastry: In the center of each puff pastry square, place about 1 tablespoon of the pumpkin cream cheese filling. Be careful not to overfill, as it can leak during baking.

Shape the Danish: Fold each corner of the pastry square towards the center, creating a pinwheel shape. Pinch the seams to seal the filling inside securely.

Prepare for Baking: In a separate small bowl, mix the beaten egg with milk to create an egg wash. Brush the egg wash over the tops of each danish to give them a golden finish when baked.

Bake: Place the danishes on the prepared baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until they are puffed up and golden brown.

Cool and Serve: Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly on a wire rack. If desired, dust with additional powdered sugar before serving.
