500g flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

2 cups fresh broccoli florets

1 bell pepper, sliced (red or yellow)

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 inch ginger, grated

1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium)

2 tablespoons oyster sauce

2 tablespoons cornstarch

1 tablespoon sesame oil (plus more for cooking)

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

1 tablespoon honey or brown sugar

Salt and pepper, to taste

2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Sesame seeds (for garnish, optional)

Cooked rice or noodles, for serving

Instructions
 

Prepare the Beef: In a mixing bowl, combine the thinly sliced flank steak, 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of cornstarch, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Toss to coat evenly and let it marinate for about 15 minutes.

    Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, honey or brown sugar, sesame oil, and 1 tablespoon of cornstarch. Set aside.

      Cook the Beef: Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef in a single layer and stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until it browns, but not fully cooked. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.

        Add Vegetables: In the same pan, add a splash of sesame oil if necessary. Add the minced garlic, grated ginger, and sliced bell pepper. Stir-fry for about 2 minutes until fragrant. Then, add the broccoli florets and stir-fry for another 3-4 minutes or until the broccoli is bright green and tender-crisp.

          Combine and Sauce: Return the beef to the pan. Give the prepared sauce a quick stir and pour it over the beef and vegetables. Toss everything together and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens and the beef is cooked through.

            Serve: Remove from heat and garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds, if desired. Serve immediately with steamed rice or noodles.
