Ingredients

4 cod fillets (6 oz each)

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

4 cloves garlic, minced

Juice of 1 large lemon

Zest of 1 lemon

1 teaspoon dried parsley (or 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped)

1 teaspoon paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

Lemon wedges, for serving

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Cod: Rinse the cod fillets under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt, pepper, and paprika. Set aside.

Make the Lemon Garlic Butter: In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

Add Lemon Flavor: Once the garlic is fragrant, stir in the lemon juice and lemon zest. Allow the mixture to simmer for another minute. Remove from heat and add the dried parsley; stir to combine.

Cook the Cod: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned cod fillets to the skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side until golden brown. Carefully flip the fillets.

Baste the Fillets: Immediately pour the lemon garlic butter mixture over the cod fillets. Continue to cook for another 3-4 minutes, basting the fillets with the butter sauce.

Check for Doneness: The cod is done when it flakes easily with a fork and is opaque throughout. If needed, adjust cooking time accordingly.

Serve: Remove cod fillets from the skillet and serve them on a plate. Drizzle any remaining lemon garlic butter from the pan over the fillets, and garnish with fresh parsley. Serve with lemon wedges on the side.
