Before diving into the delicious world of baking salmon, it’s crucial to preheat your oven. This step is often overlooked but significantly impacts the cooking process. Preheating ensures that your salmon cooks evenly and thoroughly, allowing the flavors of the marinade to meld beautifully during the baking process. Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) and give it about 15-20 minutes to reach the desired temperature. This waiting period is essential for achieving that perfect flaky texture that you desire in a well-cooked salmon.

Ingredients

4 salmon fillets (6 oz each)

4 tablespoons olive oil

4 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped

1 tablespoon fresh oregano, chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried oregano)

1 lemon, juice and zest

Salt and pepper, to taste

Lemon wedges, for serving

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Prepare the Marinade: In a bowl, combine the olive oil, minced garlic, chopped parsley, dill, oregano, lemon juice, lemon zest, salt, and pepper. Mix well to create a marinade.

Marinate the Salmon: Place the salmon fillets skin-side down in a baking dish. Pour the garlic and herb marinade over the fillets, ensuring they are well coated. Let them marinate for 15-20 minutes for optimal flavor.

Bake the Salmon: Once marinated, place the baking dish in the preheated oven. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the salmon flakes easily with a fork and reaches an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).

Serve: Remove from the oven and let it rest for a couple of minutes. Serve the baked salmon hot with lemon wedges and an extra sprinkle of fresh herbs if desired.
